Recently I found out about a little phenomenon called the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA). This is an issue of international importance as it is being considered by many, many governments the world over and would contain legislation to prosecute someone based only on an accusation, without benefit of a trial.
I think the most disturbing thing about this is that despite being known to the public for sometime now, the proceedings are still being carried on “behind closed doors” by so many governments. Also, this information has not come into the greater public consciousness in a huge way yet, and that is unsettling.

The internet has proven time and time again to be a powerful weapon to fight this kind of ridiculousness, so get the word out people. Let’s make our governments accountable and let them know this is not o.k.
